TIMELINE
FOR DEVELOPING A WM
~
by Robyne Beaubien
A
good way to get an overall picture for how your WM will develop
is to build a timeline. This can help you plan when and how you
will implement each step of your ministry. A timeline can be extremely
helpful, but should not be a measurement for whether you are doing "good
or bad." You can adjust your timeline if a ministry is developing
at a different rate than you expected. Each ministry will develop
differently depending on the gifting and passions of the leaders
as well as the needs of the church body.
Writing
down what you hope to do and the time it will take to plan each
event will help you to see if you have the time and resources to
do everything you would like to. It is always best to start small
and build up. I remember someone once told me "It is better
to do one thing well that 10 things poorly." That is always
in the back of my mind as I schedule studies and events.
When beginning
a WM, take advantage of all the "pre-planned" community
and para-church events available. The first timeline example is
from a church that had one Bible study and all their events were
ones that were available through other organizations. The second
timeline shows a pattern of self planning and original events.
Remember, these are just examples of what other churches have done…
don't use them as a measuring stick for your ministry. Take what
you can use to help enrich your WM! Also note that all the planning
details are not here, these are just a ruler to help move forward.

Some
helpful hints: Planning is a huge
part of ministry building, do it well and plan for the unexpected.
Be sure to bathe every event and study in prayer. Be sure that
your leaders are mature and gifted women with a passion for
ministering to others. Make each event "something special." Never
put programming in front of meeting the needs of women.
