Preparing and Presenting a WM Plan

by Robyne Beaubien

Following is a proposal submitted to a church in 2002 that was considering a WM. (I am happy to say that they did implement it and are going strong!) There is a cover page, a page that shows the need for the ministry, a plan to begin the ministry, a leadership plan, a budget, a proposed calendar, and samples of surveys. (I have not included the survey samples, for ideas see the survey page on this site.) The pages distorted a little when we created the smaller images but I am sure that you will be able to get a general idea of the layout and presentation.

I would recommend making your presentation as simple as possible. Clearly present your plan, goals, budget and mission without all the details. Make copies for your pastor and other leaders you will be presenting the idea to. Typically there will be a committee or board that you will make your proposal to. Be prepared to discuss your reasoning behind each idea presented. Be ready to negotiate on your budget. (You may need to cut the retreat out of the first year or two until you have "proven" the ministry.)
