DOORPRIZES & GIFT BAGS

~ by Robyne Beaubien

There are a lot of great ideas for making your retreat special door prizes and gift bags give each woman something to take home that will remind them of their retreat or event experience.

Door Prizes

Door prizes are fun. They can be a great tool to keep women where you want them at an event. You can give away a door prize at the start of each session, meal or anytime you want to "round em' up!" Try to choose door prizes that coordinate with your theme.

Gift Bags

Gift bags can be handed out at the beginning or end of an event. The bag itself can be imprinted with your event logo, or buy blank canvas or paper bags and decorate them. If you hand it out at the beginning, it is a great place to hold any printed materials the ladies will need for the event such as schedules, lyrics to songs, maps, study sheets, etc.

What to put in bags:
Sample or small sized cosmetics, perfume, lotion, etc.
Candy
Breath mints
Nail files
Note pads
Pencils or pens
Purse size sewing kits
Bookmark
Votive candle (possibly wrapped in fabric and tied with a ribbon
Postcards
Church specialty items: key chains, mints, scripture cards, etc.
Local business items: gum, pens, magnets, etc.
Brochure about your WM, ministries and coming events. (If doing the event with other churches, let them include theirs also.)

Where to find items for the bags:
1. Church – most churches today have great marketing items like pens, bottled water and candy with the church logo and information in them.
2. Church members – business owners and managers who attend your church are a great source for donations. Many times they will also donate door prize items.
3. Christian bookstores – ask for donations, but also check out their discontinued and discounted products. We found “Read through the Bible” booklets at 10 for $1.00 in the discount section.
4. Dollar stores – these are a great place to find some fun items. Candles, small books, flowers, etc…, all at a great price!
